HMNB Clyde (Faslane) Submarine base

HM Naval Base Clyde – commonly known throughout the Royal Navy as Faslane – is the Royal Navy's home to the core of the Submarine Service, including the UK's nuclear deterrent, and the new generation of hunter-killer submarines.  In port, undergoing deep maintenance was HMS Vanguard, the first of the four submarines of her class. She carried out the first Trident missile test firing in 1994 and the first operational deterrent patrol in 1995.
